Welcome to the official site of the 2007 IFESS Conference! In keeping with the mission of IFESS, we invite researchers and clinicians from around the world to Philadelphia to share and exchange their research efforts, establish new connections, and renew old friendships. We are looking forward to hosting you in November! The purpose of the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society, Inc. (IFESS), is to promote the research, application, and understanding of electrical stimulation as it is utilized in the field of medicine through meetings, tutorials, publications, and the exchange of information. The annual IFESS Conference is one of the major conduits by which the society carries out its mission. The IFESS society also shares sessions at the annual meeting with its sister society, the International Neuromodulation Society (INS). The IFESS meeting this year will focus on “translational” concepts.
These include the translation of established electrical stimulation
tenets to rehabilitation practice, the initiation of basic science studies
motivated by practical rehabilitation needs, the identification of new
knowledge or technologies from other fields of study such as robotics,
that may translate effectively into the application of electrical stimulation
and the adaptation of existing technology or paradigms to little-studied
patient populations.
